The Call of the Wild

 The Call of the Wild

The Call of the Wild by Jack London describes Buck's challenges and how he overcomes them. Buck is a big dog that lives on a farm and helps everybody in the family. But Buck gets taken by a man that works there that Buck didn't belong to. Then the man made back work as a sled dog traveling across Canada and Alaska to find gold. Another challenge that buck had was his teammates were always bullying him because they were wolves and always tried to steal his food. So Buck had to get stronger and soon enough he was able to protect himself so they could not take his food. Also he never picked fights with any other dogs and learned to pick out other dog's foods when they turned around. Bock's solution is to adapt so he becomes like the wolf and starts hunting and killing. Like them and becomes the leader of the pack instead of spits.

One thing that I like about this book is that it Tells it from Buck's point of view and other people's not just his. Another thing that I like about this book is how information it gives. It makes it so you can picture it in your head as you read. Also, I like how the main characters are animals, not humans. I love this book is probably one of my favorite books I've read. If I was going to rate this I would rate it a ten out of ten. A lesson that I learned is that sometimes you need to adapt to where you are and keep pushing just like Buck did in the story when he was a sled dog. Why I chose this book for my summer reading is because I like outdoor books and I love animals so this book was a perfect combination of both. How this book connects with me in my life is I have two dogs just like buck. How the story inspired me was that Buck kept pushing in the beginning even when he was being bullied and he couldn't sleep. After I read this book I felt excited because I like it so much and I know that there's books just like this, like White Fang and I'm super excited to read them.
