Big Nate Say Hello to my Little Friend
Big Nate Say Hello to my Little Friend, by Lincoln Peirce, describes Nate's challenge to make sure he doesn't get bullied at school. Nate is in 6th grade and gets picked on by the 8th graders who are a lot stronger than him. He wants the bully to leave him alone and his friends to believe that he's getting picked on. However, no matter what Nate does they still pick on him even when he tries to leave right when they come to play with him. Also the bullies follow Nate, put him in a corner, and beat him up. As a result, Nate sets up booby traps and pranks. That is not so funny to the boys and makes them chase him. Whenever they try to get him they either get punched in the face by a boxing glove or a tsunami of stuff hits them.
In the beginning, I didn't like this book because I felt bad for Nate. However, he was getting bullied so much that it was funny to watch the boys get pranked over and over again. This book proved how brains beat strength in most circumstances. I will rate this a 9 out of 10 because it's still a little hard to read about someone getting beat up. However, it's really funny when he beats up the bullies.
Good job on the first paragraph Dublin. I would, however, like to see a bit more effort put toward the second paragraph. Maybe you could use the worksheet that helps guide you through the second paragraph. Mr. H
