Brian's Hunt by Gary Paulsen describes Brian teaching Marines and other Special Forces how to survive in the wilderness. Brian a 15-year-old naturalistic happy loving being outside kid. He wants to help the Marines to be good at surviving in the wilderness. But after they split up the person that is with gets really injured and cannot move. The only way back is down the river so he has to build a raft. but all the other people have already left because they have already been trained and their radio station has been destroyed. They cannot solve the radio problem so they just have to go for it..

I have some thoughts on this book. One of my thoughts is that Brian is smart and very Independent. I know this because he survived by himself on an island. Also was able to build a raft and get somebody else to safety. Which tells me that he is able not just to care about himself but also others. I have another thought about this is that he loves being outside even if he's in danger. Because he decided to go back after he was stuck on an island which tells me that he enjoyed it.
