Everest

Everest, a short nonfiction story by Jim Howes, describes the challenges of climbing Everest and facts. This enormous Mountain stands 29,032 above sea level. In the 1950's, people thought maybe the climb would be possible. Then some others thought it was impossible and should not be tried and whoever attempted died. They had to carry hundreds of pounds on their back and wear very very heavy things on their bodies and lots of clothes so they did not die of frostbite. The first amazing men to complete Everest were  Edmund Hillary and Tensing Norgay, and they completed Mount Everest in 1953.

I love this book because it is  a true story and it's fascinating to me to see how far we came with the gear and equipment and how little they had at that time. If I was going to rate  this book, I would rate it a 10 out of 10 because It really shows the dangers of the climb And I like how most of the photos are from the olden days when they were just starting. I learned the struggles of Everest and the history of mountain climbing over the years.
