DIGGING INTO DOO-DOO
Digging Into Doo Doo, a short non-fiction story by T.J. Rasler, describes what fossilized poop can teach us. To begin with, obviously it can show the health of the species and what it could eat. Do you know what coprolites are? It is fossilized animal poop that scientists study. We can see what an extinct animal looked like back then and what the animal was like and what it was. For example, sharks back then ate their young because it was more round shaped like the newborns shark. It also lets us know why they to hunt so much and what they think. For example, the T-Rex could only eat some part of the animal but not most of it. That's why it had to hunt so much. There are now several scientists studying animal waste to learn about their habitat. Many others even set up museums around the world.
Digging into Doo Doo is a great nonfiction story. I liked how we can use little things to figure out other information that can open the doors to bigger ideas. This book was very interesting to me because I love science and other things like that so I thought it was interesting to see how much information we can get from something small. If I was going to recommend this book to somebody I would recommend it to somebody a little bit more mature.
Great job, Dublin. Your topic sentence is really well written and you have great details and transitions. I love that you added a question in your summary. It makes it more fun to read. Keep reading! :)
